What Really is Grace?

Bonsoir mon ami(e) Good evening my friend. I hope you had an awesome time between last week's post and this one.

I know someone said "by God's grace I did". Now let me ask you what exactly is "God's grace"?. I'm sure you are likely to respond " God's Riches At Christ's Expense" or "unmerited favour". Apart from those two, there are many many many definitions one's mind can conceive of grace🤔.

Be that as it may, I'm less interested in your mind's definition than your LIFE'S explanation of what grace is👀. You see there are probably as many mental definitions of grace as there are stars in the sky but when it comes to "LIVING" definitions, there are but two : "ENABLEMENT"; and "EXCUSE".

When most people use the phrase "by God's grace", it connotes God's endowment, empowerment, power and whatnot which are tied to the ENABLEMENT definition but how they live their lives connotes the EXCUSE definition.

So what is God's grace? In my humble opinion "grace" is simply the ability to please God. Pleasing God comes with a lot of benefits which are the benefits of grace 😁. Prior to the coming of Christ; In the era of the law all men were doomed to cycles of sin and repentance and we cannot blame them for the power to please God was simply unavailable in human nature. Christ came and died and GBAM!!!!!!! JUST LIKE THAT!  We now have the ability to please God.

"Err if it's that simple, What's the problem with us?" The answer? WILLINGNESS!!!!!!! You must be willing to please God and not just in those comfortable spiritual moments but in the face of SERIOUS temptation to commit even those seemingly little or harmless sins. I wouldn't dare say it's easy but hey! You don't have to do it by yourself(not that you could really😞). God's grace is available, use it!!!!!!! Not as an excuse to do nonsense but as power to do what makes sense before God.

Earlier on the scripture where Paul says that where sin abounds, grace abounds even more literally hit me this past week.

But the law entered, so that sin might increase, but where sin increased, grace abounded much more,
Romans 5:20 MEV

So this is how the Holy Spirit explained the latter part of that verse to me : Grace is the ability to please God(among other things😎) and so the greater the hold of sin, the more the power needed to please God. God isn't one to leave us hanging so what does that mean? When we need more grace, we have more grace🕺🕺🕺😉😎. The power needed after say fornicating once is likely less than that needed to break sex addiction(ceteris paribus i.e all else held constant). So the deeper you are in sin the more grace you need and the more it is available to you. Presto! "...where sin increased, grace abounded much more".

There you have it folks! Simple yet so important. In Christ Jesus, you have all it takes to please God. Don't waste such a valuable resource. Be blessed in Jesus' name.

Dear daddy, we love You so much for Your loving kindness, tender mercies and Your grace that is the power to please You!. Help us seek You truly and please give us a new depth of Worship, Love and Service to You. All these we ask and more in the name of our big bros Jesus Christ.  Amen

Don't forget to share and/or leave a comment to let others know what God's grace has been or is to you. Also feel free to visit and revisit old posts and share and/or leave a comment as well. I decree that your week is blessed, fruitful and God-full in Jesus' name. Shalom brethren 😊😇
