The Purpose That Fulfils

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together! ’
Matthew 25:21 NLT

Can you think of any words you want more dearly to hear? I cannot. In the end when we look deeply, there's no sweeter feeling, no greater satisfaction than that which comes from knowing that you have made Jesus proud.

While it is my prayer that we all hear those words when we come face to face with the King of all, we really should aspire to hear those words everyday. It is the ultimate call - working the portion that we have been given faithfully no matter how undignified it may look compared to another's.

There is so much material on fulfilling purpose and really it is important but today, I am here with a related but slightly different message and the message is that YOUR PURPOSE FULFILS YOU!!!!
Fulfilling a purpose is not enough. It is fulfilling YOUR purpose that you should aspire to.

There is no call higher than the call of Christ and if Christ called you to be a teacher and you decide you want to be an evangelist touring the world(because "it seems more significant for the kingdom"), a purpose is fulfilled - the gospel is preached but the fulfilling of that purpose will not fulfil you and ultimately you run the risk of hearing "who sent you?"

I know one thing for sure, if you are in what God called you to, you will know because you will not only fulfil it, it will fulfil you.

Our Father, the infinite, ultimate God of wisdom. Your purposes are past our finding out. We can only understand the pieces you reveal to us. Knowing that we do not know all there is to know even about ourselves, we surrender in humble adoration and marvel at your omniscience. Help us to walk in the call you have called us to. Let us not run another's race. Where we have missed it, show us and give us the grace to be humble enough to admit and retrace our steps in Jesus' name (amen)
